Colette is a published children’s magazine writer and an aspiring children’s book author. She serves as the Co-Regional Advisor for the chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) covering the six counties surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area. SCBWI is the largest professional organization devoted to children’s book writers and illustrators. She’s a published features writer for health care industry trade magazines. But she devotes her writing passion for children literature.
Her works for children include stories set in the rich habitat of San Francisco’s tidal wetlands. Featuring endangered species in authentic habitats, such as the salt marsh harvest mouse and the red-legged frog, the fictional accounts focus on real conflicts in a fantasy setting. She also runs 3rd and 4/5th grade book clubs in a title 1 public charter school, which serve as inspiration for her new chapter book story, The Big Bad Book Club.
Colette is a marketing and communications consultant (Summit Marketing) specializing in strategic marketing for manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, non-profit organizations and service providers. She’s a national speaker, former corporate board member in the health care industry and has served on non-profit boards. And she is proud to be among the first students in the University of California Naturalist program.
