Colette is a published children’s magazine writer of over 27 nonfiction articles and an aspiring children’s book author. She serves as the Co-Regional Advisor for the chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) covering the seven counties surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area. SCBWI is the largest professional organization devoted to children’s book writers and illustrators.
Her works for children include stories set in the rich habitat of San Francisco’s tidal wetlands. Featuring endangered species in authentic habitats, such as the salt marsh harvest mouse and the red-legged frog, the fictional accounts focus on real conflicts in a fantasy setting. She runs 3rd and 4/5th grade book clubs, the inspiration for her new middle grade novel, The Big Bad Book Club which was accepted to the 2018 SCBWI Nevada Children’s Writer Mentorship Program.
Colette is a marketing and communications consultant, a former national speaker and corporate board member, and has served on non-profit boards. She’s proud to be among the first students in the University of California Naturalist program.
